API 653 certified inspectors use visual and nondestructive
test methods to locate and evaluate defects and
discontinuities. They also perform vacuum box testing of
floor / corner welds for leaks and perform magnetic flux
leakage
examination of floor plates for underside corrosion.
Elevation surveys are performed to evaluate the extent of settlement. The results of these
inspections are used in the engineering evaluations.
